not scheduled as part of the tournament and is not included in any
official tournament records after the event.
2022: Originally planned on 2021, Sep 18 - Oct 16 but postponed by World rugby on 2021, Mar 02 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rugby at the World Games (defunct)
The International World Games Association (IWGA, founded
in 1981) organizes the World Games every 4 years. Thus, an International Sports Federation (IF)
can become a member of the IWGA; it must satisfy two essential
conditions:
The IF must be a member of GAISF (the umbrella
organisation for all (Olympic and non-Olympic)
international sports federations), and their sport does not belong to
the current Olympic program.
Since 1989, the World Games are under the special patronage of the IOC.
Originally a FIRA competition (and thus also limited to their members) it was transformed to a joint IRB/FIRA-AER Under 19 World Championship in 1992,
eventually becoming the IRB Under 19 World Cup in 2004.
In 1995, the teams were placed into A to D tier divisions with promotion and relegation between them. 1999, reduced to two divisions A and B. The Junior World Championship replaced it.

World Rugby Under 20 Championship
The IRB decided to fold its under-19 and under-21 world
championships into a two-tiered under-20 tournament structure starting
in 2008. The top tier, the World Rugby Under 20 Championship, feature up to 16
teams, while eight teams compete in the second-tier World Rugby Under 20 Trophy
(2008 - 2014 IRB Junior World Trophy - JWRT).
